THE DREADFUL THING CAME TRUE
If you guys read my last entry..you will know that my eldest son is diagnosed with HFMD..I acted as fast as i can to quarantine him..to make sure he is far away from his younger brother...and i pray hard that my younger son wouldn't get it...But somehow..i wasn't fast enuff...last Saturday, 18th November 06, the young one came down with a fever..37.8 degree..its abit high for a baby his age..48 days...when i heard wat my wifey told me, i quickly leave the office fetch them and went to the doctor..
Dr : Hi!! how is Dean?
Me:Emm...he is down with fever..
Wifey: i took his temperature just now its 37.6..i think he's burning again..
Dr : U know, a baby like Dean shouldn't get fever at his age..it's abit too soon for him..moreover he is breast fed...
Me: I wasn't aware of that..
Dr : Maybe..just maybe I'm not sure at the moment..his brother passed it to him...
Me : Oh..!! i hope not..i've quarantine Harith as soon as you told me that it was HFMD.
Dr : Well, I hope not too..because its going to be difficult...let me check him.. i can't see any spots on him right now...you have to monitor him..make sure his temperature doesn't rise to 38 degrees..if its more than 38 dgrees..u need to admit him...i'll write you a memo.
Wifey : are you going to prescribe any medicine for him?
Dr: There's no medicine for him..he is to young...
Wifey: Not even Dhamol ( fever medicine for babies)
Dr : Nope..its too strong for him..
Me: Than what should we do?
Dr : what you can do is to feed him water and continue to give him milk...feed him glucose also..
60ml every hour or so..as long as he drinks and his temperature is under control, he will be alright..
Me : Ok Doc..thanks...
Dr : Call me if you face any problem.
Everything was fine until late at night, my wifey called me crying...and said that there are ulcers in Dean's mouth. Red spots can be seen at his hands and legs...that is when the dreadful thing came true...I called the Dr up..and told him everything..and he advice me on how to treat Dean...
Dean didn't want milk, refuses to drink glucose, keep on crying with tears and all...as a parent..how would you feel if you see your kid in that situation...my heart broke...it really broke...on that day also..my elder son couldn't eat as well...crying .. i have to console him...keep on telling me that..his mouth is in pain..at that moment in time... i really dunno what to do...i calm myself first..than called my wife..calm her down and instruct her like how the Dr instruct me...
Some people said its not a big deal...Its a big deal to me...I'll be frank here...I was scared... i was so scared that all the negative thoughts came to my mind.. I remember reading on some HFMD cases that cause death...and i also remember reading an article saying that the fatality number of HFMD is rising if not treated properly.....
That was one tough weekend for me....

Hi.. i felt that way too when my kids are sick. More so, my boy who was hospitalised twice. Actually broke down for ½ hr in the wards' toilet after he was restrained when the docs/nurses (5 of them) have to hold him tight for preparing for the drip site (2nd time, as the 1st drip site, he ripped off, flesh & blood and all:).
Cried a lot. You have to be strong for wifey too. she needs your TLC and understanding too.

Yup..i was worried,sad,and moreover..concern with my sons health. i was distraught for a moment..somehow, i managed to calm myself..and therefore i managed to really look after them...its not easy especially it comes to children...Now they are on the way to recovery...im happy for them too..
